In 2010, I developed an industry standard for audiovisual media networks to eliminate set-up times and make complexity manageable. Since then, I have taught specialists in audio, video and media technology that complex signal networks do not have to be a black box, completely independent of prior knowledge. After my three-day technical seminars, most of them go with a smile and the necessary equipment for the practice of modern media productions. Many then grow far beyond the course, which pleases me.

Workshops

For event technicians
IT For AVs®

Most event networks work - until they don't. Mastering Event IT trains the people for whom that moment is not an option.
No prior knowledge required
Core module + five deep dive modules
Presence & Online

For experienced system technicians
Lake training
Lake is more than a controller – those who understand the philosophy behind it work differently. This training shows how it makes a difference on the show.
Previous experience as a sound designer is required
Presets, limiters, password protection, groups
Clocking, routing & fallback strategies

In-house lecture
Don't panic! It's just a network
An entertaining introduction to the topic of IT networks for event technology – understandable, practical, without previous knowledge. Ideal if you want your team or your customers to finally understand the topic.

Standard & Tools
What I built for my own problems and now pass on

BF-C.O.R.E.® Standard
Base Framework for Converged Operations & Reliable Event-IT
The standard defines VLAN IDs and IP addresses for switches and end devices in every department equipment pool (lighting, audio, video, rigging, and beyond).
Every decision is built around the limits of human memory: after a short ramp-up, the entire scheme can be derived from memory, without looking anything up.
The concept is equally attractive to rental companies, venues, freelancers, and everyone else involved in a production. It works across company boundaries, cuts setup times dramatically, and turns the media network into a real team sport on every show.
One Network. All Trades. Zero Chaos.
The Single Source of Truth for Event-IT

BF-C.O.R.E.® Asset Manager
Manage your switches and every networked device across your department equipment pools. Add automatically calculated IP addresses to item and inventory numbers. Generate the matching Excel and PDF lists that establish, bindingly for everyone involved, which device gets which IP address. Build project sheets that give the production a single overview for distributing the switches to be prepped across rooms and department positions.
BF-C.O.R.E.® Config Generator
Exclusively for participants
Generate standard-compliant switch configurations as text files in the simplest web interface imaginable. Set every parameter a professional media network requires in just a few clicks, and export the matching documentation sheet as a PDF overview. Sequential configurations for multiple switches are one click away, delivered as a zipped bundle.

BF Network Monitor
For any network, standard or not.
Most event networks work fine, right up until they don't. The established network monitoring platforms were built for enterprise environments. The BF Network Monitor shows you the status of your production's event IT without burning setup time. No extra effort required. The auto-generated topology map gives you a real-time status overview and color-codes your trunk links by utilization. The patch map shows you which port belongs to which VLAN, and operators label their own connection ports themselves, straight from their phone.
Professional network monitoring for live events. Simple.
